Dear [subscriber:firstname | default:reader],

It is a time of ups and downs. I'm disappointed not to performing Absolute Solo II next week at Birmingham REP and at Dance City the following week. Having, like so many people, spent so much of this year in relative isolation, I was so looking forward to being with an audience again and feel so ready to perform. Alas, it wasn't to be. Instead, to get you through the winter lockdowns we're re-releasing Fantasia for a limited online season - if you haven't seen it yet please enjoy an hour of beauty, wonder and escapism on us.

We are still working hard to bring you the world premiere of my Romeo + Juliet in March and are delighted and excited to announce a stellar cast of incredible performers who will bring the show to life. I can't wait to start working with them!

There are a couple of last chance callouts to consider this weekend - we're looking for an Assistant Producer from an ethnicity underrepresented in arts leadership and volunteers to be the voices of Romeo + Juliet.

    Best wishes,
    Rosie-signature

    LAST CHANCE: Birmingham voices wanted

Be part of Rosie Kay's Romeo + Juliet

We are looking for volunteers (aged 16+) to help create the voices of the city in this new production. Set in the present day, we follow two groups of young people as they negotiate tensions, parties, love and ultimately tragedy in the city of Birmingham. Following choreographer Rosie Kay’s intensive research in the city, Rosie is looking for Birmingham voices who will volunteer to record parts of the script to be used in the soundtrack to the show.

We are looking for real Birmingham people to be the voices of a TV news presenter, a local, community and pirate radio presenters, different Police officers, an A+E nurse, ambulance crew and 999 control centre dispatcher. We’re also looking for local men and women of various ages to talk about what they witness, local gossip and reactions to news stories. You will be given a draft script and then asked to record your voice on a phone device. Your voice could become part of the sound score of this new and exciting work, which will premiere at Birmingham Hippodrome on 17 March 2021.
