Dr. Stefan Kay OBE

1944 - 2021

We have the sad news that Rosie's father, founding Chair, director, patron and special advisor to the board, Dr Stefan Kay OBE died peacefully on the 19th February at St Columba’s Hospice Edinburgh. Stefan was beloved husband of Helen, loving father of Cath, Rosie and Graham, caring father-in-law of John and Louis, proud grandad of Clara, Kai and Gabriel. A private funeral was held on Thursday 4th March.

“Overall, I feel really lucky to have had such an amazing Dad- he was kind, generous, good natured, fair and had an infectious love of life and of knowledge. He lit up any room, and knew how to make others feel comfortable, feel welcome and listened to. At parties, you would find Stefan deeply engaged in conversation with new people- people who would bond with him, each coming away having learnt something. He was highly professional, understood business, management, human psychology and always, always treated people with dignity and respect. He was my mentor and gave amazingly good advice, I will miss his advice greatly. He was loving and he was gentle, a really wonderful man and a hero to me as a child, and now.” Rosie Kay

Rosie Kay Dance Company would like to honour all of Stefan’s support and service through the years. He will be missed by everyone on the board and especially by James and Rosie with whom he worked so closely with.

Could you donate £15 a month?

These are challenging times for the survival of art and artists. We are fortunate to be supported in part by Arts Council England however we also rely on one-off and regular donations to continue creating new work and touring.

Donating £15 per month is a great way to show your support for the arts and means a huge amount to a company like RKDC.

Thank you
