Dear [subscriber:firstname | default:reader],

We are coming towards the end of the Rosie Kay's Fantasia tour, and we have been really thrilled by the audience response. The applause has been spontaneous and audiences have told us of the joy they felt watching the show, and how it awakened a pure love of watching dance.

It was great to be back in Scotland at the Brunton at the beginning of the month, in Scarborough we had a wonderful post-show talk, in London the post-show talk was very highly attended and chaired by the Chair of our Board, Frances Clarke who is now also Dean of Faculty at Trinity Laban and on Saturday we were greeted so warmly by our audience at Salibury Arts Centre.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the shows so far and we are look forward to meeting our audiences in Street and Leeds over the next few days!

I know we are all going to be really really sad when this tour is over, but we are hoping there will be plans afoot for Fantasia to be performed again soon.

Read on for more news of Rosie Kay's Fantasia, the 2020 tour plans for 5 SOLDIERS and of our new Board Member.

With best wishes,
Rosie Kay

Rosie Kay's Fantasia on tour

“Fantasia”: a composition that breaks all the rules.

Rosie Kay’s newest work takes ballet and tutus into the 21st Century using dance and science to create an exquisite performance of pleasure, beauty and finesse.

Delve deeply into a soundtrack of Vivaldi, Purcell, Beethoven and Bach and revel in the vision of three bold female dancers as they discover love, loss, emotion and joy.

With only 2 performances remaining in our 2019 tour, we do hope you will be able to see the show at one of the following venues.

Strode Theatre, Mon 18 Nov
Northern Ballet, Leeds, Thu 21 Nov

5 SOLDIERS 1 extended black wide

In association with The British Army

In 2008, Rosie Kay joined the 4th Battalion The Rifles, to watch and participate in full battle exercises, and visited the National Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. What came of these observations was the award winning, five-star work 5 SOLDIERS - a thrilling and humane portrait of army life telling the stories of men and women serving on the front line.

We are delighted to announce that 5 SOLDIERS will tour to the Forest Arts Centre, Walsall and Capitol Theatre, Horsham in February 2020, followed by a 3 week US tour to Mondavi Arts Center, Artpower and Mesa Arts Center.

RKDC welcomes a new Board Member

Shivaji Shiva is a charity lawyer who advises on the creation of charities, their dissolution, and most of the issues they encounter in between.

From offices in Brindleyplace, a short cycle ride from RKDC's base at the Birmingham Hippodrome, Shivaji works with a wide variety of charities across England and Wales and occasionally further afield.

Married to a bharata natyam dancer, he has a longstanding interest in the particular governance challenges faced by dance companies and other arts organisations. Independent sources describe him as "very knowledgeable; he provides expert advice and guidance" and "very enthusiastic".
Away from his desk, Shivaji is a serial charity trustee and an occasional transport campaigner, currently promoting ‘Low Traffic Neighbourhoods’ to provide people-friendly streets and safer routes to school in Birmingham.

Dance Hub Birmingham opening

Rosie was delighted to attend the opening reception of Dance Hub BIrmingham, and hear about the fantastic projects Dance Hub have supported.

As you can see from the image featuring Johnny Autin and Laura Vanhulle from Autin Dance Company, the studio is large with beautiful floors and mirrors, and will be a real asset to the Birmingham dance scene.
