Hello [subscriber:firstname, | default:],

We have had a fantastically busy couple of weeks with the Commonwealth Games handover ceremony televised to a global audience of around 1 billion people. Put together in ten days with volunteers and an amazing Birmingham dance team, the production was the longest ever single shot, live broadcast of any ceremony or handover. We were immensely proud of the energy, dedication and professionalism that our young dancers in Birmingham showed on a global stage.

Coming up, we've got Woyzeck at Birmingham REP, MODERN WARRIOR on tour, a sharing of research and development, summer courses at The Place, and a new opportunity to invest in dance and support our award-winning community engagement programme. Read on to find out more.
Rosie Kay, Artistic Director

Join the Fan Club

We are asking everyone that shares our vision of increasing access to dance to join our newly launched Rosie Kay Fan Club. As a registered charity, we rely upon donations from people who, like us, believe that watching or participating in dance has the power to transform hearts and minds.

We make sure donations go straight to the studio or the stage, helping to support the creation and touring of relevant, important, political and meaningful dance that explores the world in which we live today. Donations also support our award-winning community engagement programme that offers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds free access to workshops and the chance to perform in professional theatres.

Take part in MK ULTRA summer courses at The Place

Booking is now open for summer courses at The Place, the institution at which Rosie trained as a dancer. From 6-10 August, Rosie will be delivering MK ULTRA-inspired classes to explore the saturation of Illuminati references and symbolism in pop culture, the sexualisation of women in the media and who really asserts control over our bodies.

The Level 1/2 workshops are for people with over one year’s dance experience, perhaps taking regular classes or studying at GCSE or A Level. The course runs each day from 14:15-15:45.
The Level 2/3 workshops are for anyone regularly attending high level classes, whether at school, college, university or in a professional setting. The course runs each day from 16:00-17:30.
MK ULTRA will tour in autumn 2018: more information and tour dates

Watch the Commonwealth Games handover on catch-up

On Sunday 15 April, Rosie Kay choreographed the live televised handover of the Commonwealth Games as it journeyed from Australia to Birmingham. Featuring a mass performance with hundreds of young people dancing, the handover showcased the vibrancy, energy and creativity of a city that we are very proud to call our home.
