We are delighted to present and share our first annual report with you for the year 2018 – 2019: the year that saw our company move from being project funded to becoming an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
This report gives us the opportunity to share how we have achieved our mission to continually research, create and perform brave new dance that thrills and moves people. All of which are supported by engagement and digital programmes and our commitment to equality and the environment.
- The year when we toured MK ULTRA, 5 SOLDIERS and MODERN WARRIOR, to audiences of 6000 +.
- The year when we became an Associate Company of Birmingham Hippodrome.
- The year when we achieved Ethical Manager Status from Equity and the Independent Theatre Council.
- The year when Rosie Kay choreographed the 2018 Commonwealth Games handover ceremony as Birmingham welcomed the hosting of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Performed live during the 2018 Games’ closing ceremony on Australia’s Gold Coast in April 2018, the filmed event followed dancers as they moved around the city’s Victoria Square and reached a global TV audience of more than one billion people.
