“My days were filled with experiences of many different parts of the theatre”

DAY-TO-DAY

Being able to be an Assistant Producer on Romeo + Juliet with Rosie Kay Dance Company (RKDC) at the Birmingham Hippodrome was an amazing experience. My days were filled with experiences of many different parts of the theatre from set construction and get ins with the amazing Hippodrome Technical Stage Team, to tech rehearsals and seeing all the plans and designs come to life, to Stage Management duties, working with the Costume Department and the Marketing and Communications Team at RKDC and the incredible creative team and cast.

“I am looking forward to what the learning and experience new opportunities within the industry within performing, producing, choreographing and stage management.”

MY FAVOURITE EXPERIENCE

One of my favourite experiences of this production was being able to work with encouraging and supportive creative team, I learnt so many new things from them that I can’t wait to take with me for the future. Also being able to work with the very talented, friendly and supportive dancer-choreographers and being able to watch how they work and create to bring together such an important and current production that they have been anticipating for nearly a year due to Covid-19. In addition, I felt truly blessed and grateful to be working in a theatre again, hearing the audience for the first time in such a long time is a memory I will always cherish.

 LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

I will always be grateful to James Preston (Producer) and the Rosie Kay Dance Company for the opportunity to work with such a well-renowned, inspiring team of people and I am looking forward to what the learning and experience new opportunities within the industry within performing, producing, choreographing and stage management.

“It was brilliant to work with Priya during rehearsals and Amelia and Chanel during the production period for Romeo + Juliet. We want to create paid opportunities for emerging professionals to gain experience and develop their skills and practice. All three Assistant Producers made the best of their time with us and I can’t wait to see where their promising careers go next.”
